TAPPING

For trauma, we suggest starting with the Trauma Tapping Technique to reduce symptoms of trauma in the body. This technique, developed by Ulf Sandström and Gunilla Hamne of the Peaceful Heart Network, has been used successfully to calm responses to stress and trauma for more than 100,000 people in 20 countries (often war survivors). The developers consider it a First Aid technique. Anyone can do it.

Start with thinking lightly about whatever is bothering you. Then tap 12-15 times on each point shown in the videos, using 2 fingers. Then take 2 deep breaths and repeat. When done, take 2 more deep breaths.

If needed, repeat the entire sequence until you feel calmer. It’s as easy as that. It works because you are activating acupressure points, which are signaling to your brain that you are safe. Of course, this technique is not intended to replace professional help.
